Essex High School Theater

Commit. Collaborate. Innovate. Compel.

Our mission is to immerse students in a caring and investigative environment in order to unpack what performance means. We do this by enriching our physical and vocal vocabularies, building empathetic perspective, and deepening listening and leadership skills.

By empowering students with opportunities to perform, design, construct and direct, EHS Theater builds a community of practitioners who analyze and reflect the vital relationships and potentials of human experiences.

Our school is very supportive. This theater program strives to offer young people a professional experience, and this often requires resources beyond the standard academic allowance. We are reliant on our community of parents and businesses to help us continue to strengthen our theater program at EHS.

I'd love to help out!

EHS Theater provides opportunities to expand horizons and creates a loving and caring community. We do this by having a group of directors who promote respect, love, and care for the students involved, who push performers to their limits to help them learn and grow. Performers take this experience home and use it to impact the lives of others, creating a better community both in and out of theater.

EHS Theater is a place for students to feel like they belong somewhere. It allows creative people to express themselves when they wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise...I had the opportunity to Stage Manage and I fell in love instantly, and now I’m looking to pursue Stage Management as a career.
